Elon Musk Integrates AI-Driven News Summaries on Social Media Platform X and Postpones India Visit
The social media platform X, under Elon Musk's ownership, is set to implement a new feature that will encapsulate news events in-app with the assistance of Grok AI, a chat interface from xAI. This enhancement allows X to offer summaries based on the content shared by its users rather than aggregating reports from external news sources. Initially, this service will be exclusive to those with premium access, as disclosed by the company last Friday. Named "Stories," this functionality presently does not reference any journalistic entities. However, Musk has indicated in a discourse with the Big Technology newsletter that enhancements in sourcing are anticipated.
Musk enlightened Big Technology that the synopses provided would evolve as additional data surfaces. Although Grok operates autonomously from X, it shares a connection through xAI, a venture in artificial intelligence led by Musk. Grok's development benefits from the rich variety of discussions present on X. Under Musk’s stewardship, a prior feature known as Moments, which was analogous but curated by humans, was discontinued post his 2022 acquisition of the then-Twitter.
In another piece of news, Musk had to reschedule a highly anticipated trip to India, intended partly for discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing pressing commitments at Tesla. He expressed his intentions to rearrange the visit for later in the year through a message on X. The original itinerary had Musk in India for a brief two-day period from April 21 to 22, during which he planned to unveil Tesla's entry into the Indian market.
