Ark: Survival Ascended, a product of Studio Wildcard, is poised to receive a tremendous upgrade to its developer kit. Branded as "colossal," this update will advance the power era of unbounded game creation, placing it directly into the hands of the users.
Originally an Unreal Engine 5 remake of Ark: Survival Evolved, Ark: Survival Ascended is a survival game that debuted recently. The game is adaptable for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 platforms. Up until this point, the official Ark Dev Kit, available for download via the Epic Games Store, permitted players to develop cross-platform mods to enrich the gaming content.
The dev kit is planned to have an extensive update by the end of the month, potentially broadening the software's capabilities. Studio Wildcard has enthusiastically mentioned the concept of crafting not just Ark mods, but entire custom Unreal Engine games within the platform of Ark: Survival Ascended. They even tease envisaging the creation of a player-vs-player arena within the game or building a Mario-like riot through Crystal Isles. Coupled with a fully playable Mario-inspired platformer example, the developers say that the user's imagination is the only limit.
Studio Wildcard has further elaborated that the update will allow dev kit users to create customized main menus, flawlessly transition between different levels within mods, and construct and browse their unique multiplayer game sessions within the mod. Ahead of this major update, a Survival of the Fittest (SOTF) dev kit update aimed at enabling users to create custom arenas and match battle royale-like modes is slated to be unveiled sometime this week.
The upcoming changes are massive and promise an exciting phase for modding enthusiasts. But with no explicit release dates announced thus far, enthusiasts are advised to stay tuned for updates.
